Workshops

Emma has run writing workshops in a variety of settings, including schools, colleges, arts venues, galleries and museums.

She has also run outdoor workshops, walking workshops and canal-based workshops. She will tailor sessions to any given theme and is happy to work with students of any age or ability.

Emma also offers workshops designed to help people read and perform their own poetry more confidently.

“Emma planned and delivered poetry sessions for all age groups from Year 1 to Year 6.  ALL the children were really motivated and produced some excellent pieces of writing which Emma made into a poetry anthology for the school library.  A very successful project indeed and we would not hesitate to use her again as our ‘poet in residence’.”
Claire Lamb (Headteacher).

“Thank you so much for the inspirational sessions that you gave as part of our Arts Day. I have had lots of enthusiastic, positive feedback from both staff and students. I thought that you quickly built up a warm, professional, creative environment for the students to work in. Your choices of drama material were really imaginative and fun to work with.”

Group comments on Emma’s workshop for The Lichfield Poets

“It was great: thought-provoking, and focused and inspired me to do some writing which I feel compelled to work on the next day. She had a real way of working with the group but also attending to us as individuals. She paid attention to our work and picked out positive, encouraging things for everyone. I would definitely do another one with her. “

“I really enjoyed the workshop, the exercises we did really helped me.  Having written virtually nothing since last July, I went home and wrote a poem that I was really pleased with.  Emma can come back anytime, as far as I’m concerned!”

“Emma’s workshop was a lovely informal mix of reading, performing, informing and encouraging us to write.”

“The balance between input – performance /reading /information / hand-outs – and time for individual working was spot on.”
