‘It’s Honorary, Bab – poet laureate in a pandemic’ is about identity and civic pride, it’s about loving where you live, even if it isn’t always the easiest place to love. This quirky, one-woman show is written and performed by former city laureate, Emma Purshouse. Emma explores the wonders of the much-maligned city of Wolverhampton from the points of view of such characters as the Man on the Oss, Red Emma and Catherine Eddowes’ tin box.
A Battered Chip On My Shoulder
Dave Pitt has won awards. Dave Pitt is an Associate Artist. Dave Pitt is doing alright at this writing and performing lark. So why has Dave Pitt still got a chip on his shoulder, what does that have to do with graffiti art, bins and fork lift trucks and is the chip actually battered? Dave Pitt uses spoken word and poetry to find out.
Sandwell Stanzas is a series of events running across the borough. Emma will be appearing as the headline poet for the Smethwick event. There will be open mic slots available.
Entry is free.
Emma will be performing poems from her new collection ‘Unsung’ at Caffe Grande Slam.
Three minute slam slots are available for people to share their work.
