Black Country Women with Marion Cockin, Jane Seabourne and Emma Purshouse

As part of the Wolverhampton Literature Festival 2019, Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists will be curating The Festival Fringe Room.  We are bringing to Wolves 5 top quality pieces of theatre/spoken word that have all featured at the Edinburgh Fringe to excellent reviews.  Join is in the intimate upstairs space at Lych Gate Tavern.  The first show is 12.30pm and we will be running the room until around 6.30pm.  Payment by voluntary donation.  Grab yourself a pint and a show…or maybe a couple of pints and a couple of shows.  Or what the hell…stop all day.

Despite Everything, Price still Includes Biscuits – Naomi Paul
Expect dry Jewish humour, Naomi comments on political issues, shares personal stories, and performs original songs. Set sail on a surreal journey – sometimes poignant, always funny and ultimately uplifting. ‘A fine comic celebration of modern Britain’ (British Theatre Guide).

Bert – performed by Dave Francis/written by Dave Pitt

John sits in his car. Hose pipe at the exhaust. Michael appears, prompting discussion of their lives and their ‘Bert’. Do we all have a Bert in us? A thought provoking often light hearted look at the topic of male depression.

Music for Dogs  – written by Paula Meehan/performed by Carol Caffrey,

returns for a 2nd visit to the Wolves Lit Fest. “Moving” “Bloody funny” and “Absolutely riveting.”   The action takes place on Dublin’s Burrow Beach as Jane MacDonald, records a message for her estranged brother and sister.

The Tanner’s Tale – written and performed by Alex McSherry

The Tanner stood with William Wallace and fought the English for ‘freedom’. What did it cost him? Everything. What did he get for it? Nothing. Well, not quite… This performance is not for the squeamish!

Greyhound: Journey thru’ the dark heart of America Matt Panesh

By turns an hilarious and horrifying true story of a simple poet’s bus journey with a body-mutilating, beheading, bandito. In life, you don’t choose who you sit next to! Panesh has received numerous awards including Best Poet at San Francisco Fringe and Three Weeks Editors’ Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Wolverhampton Literature Festival Poetry Slam 2019

Library Lates with Emma Purshouse

What happens when three poets who enjoy having a pint together decide to put on a show?

Join Dave, Emma, and Steve as they meet in a pub somewhere a lot like Wolverhampton and plot their path to fame and fortune. Will they be distracted by beer and scratchings? Will they put the world to rights? Come and find out.

An evening of poetry like you’ve never seen before. May contain language.

Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists premiered this show in the Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton in April 2017, since then they’ve taken it for a successful run at Edinburgh Fringe, and to venues round the country.  Do come along, we’d love to see you.
